I cannot tell you how good they taste. I cannot express to you how delicious they are. Even the pictures will not do justice… you have to try them for yourself. They are PERFECT for any occasion: superbowl, a small get together, a shower, a dinner party, tailgate, etc. They are delicious and can be the most laidback appetizer, or since they have crab in them they can be considered a “fancy” appetizer… right? Anyways, it doesn’t matter- they are SO DELICIOUS!
My mom has been making these for years. Anything written on a recipe card is almost guaranteed to be delicious.
Here’s what you will need:
- 1/2 cup of mayo (I used light)
- 1/4 cup Grey Poupon Mustard
- 1 package of italian seasoning
- 3 oz cream cheese (I use 1/3 fat)
- 1 1/2 cups of swiss cheese (recipe says 1 cup, but more cheese is better)
- 6 oz can of crab meat
- 1 pkg of rolls (buy the cheap three-flake rolls)
Mix the first 5 ingredients together (everything except the crab meat).
Rinse the crab meat before mixing it in so that it doesn’t taste too fishy. Just open the can and let water run in the can leaving the paper covering on the crab meat. Once rinsed add the crabmeat to the mixture.
Now you’re ready to put filling on the rolls. Break each roll in half. Jeremy doesn’t understand why we do it this way because he thinks we should break right through the middle where you have a top and a bottom (he’s an engineer). I think our way is better because then you have the top of a roll and the bottom of the roll. Split right down the middle of the roll with a fork until you have two sections.
Put about 1-1 1/2 TBsp’s on each roll. I only used 1 package of rolls, so all of my crab bites have a lot of filling (which make them tastier!). I could have probably used two packages of rolls and put much less filling on each roll and made it go farther.
Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes then turn it on broil for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. **Keep an eye on them once you start the boiler because they will burn very quickly if you aren’t careful!**
