5 Minute Prep Banana Bread


This banana bread is so easy, and you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen already! It takes 5 minutes to mix everything together and you don’t even need to use a mixer. Jeremy’s mom, Mrs. Lisa, made this for us about a year ago, and it turned into my favorite banana bread recipe. The best part? It’s so easy and quick!

Mrs. Lisa got it from The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook. Did I mention how blessed I am? Not only was I born into an incredible family, but I married into a wonderful family as well. Jeremy’s family welcomed me with open arms and treats me just like their daughter. They are so loving, and I am constantly thanking our great God for his blessings. I definitely know not to take great in-laws for granted. I mean look at both of our wonderful families below- THANKFUL!

Anyway back to this incredible, delicious, and easy banana bread. Here’s what you will need (I’ve gotten bad at taking a picture of it!):

  • 1  3/4 cups of flour
  • 2  1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 c mashed ripe bananas
  • 1/2 c milk
  • 1/3 c vegetable oil

Mix first 4 ingredients in a large bowl (flour, baking powder, salt, sugar) Make a well in the center of the mixture.

Combine all the wet ingredients in a separate bowl (egg, mashed banana, milk, and oil). Add them into dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.

*side note- did you know you can freeze ripe bananas? Sometimes I want to bake with the incredible old bananas sitting in our bowl, but don’t have time or any reason to at the moment. Just peel the bananas, put them in a ziplock bag, and throw them in the freezer.



About an hour before you want to cook with them just let them thaw out in your sink. They will look gross, but taste great!


Back to the recipe– Spoon batter into greased (I did it with butter) loaf pan. Bake at 325-350 (depending on your oven) for 45 minutes.



Yields one big delicious loaf of banana bread!
