Homemade margaritas. A group of our friends threw a fiesta shower for Tyler and Hannah. Mrs. Lisa (my awesome mother-in-law) and I wanted to find a great fresh tasting margarita; we didn’t feel like the “mixers” did them justice. We got our starting point from Confections of a Foodie Bride and adapted our recipe from there.
What you need (makes 4 servings- 8 oz each):
- 2 cups simple syrup (2 cups water, 1 cup sugar)
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (3-4 limes)
- 3/4 cup Rose’s Sweetened Lime Juice (you can find it in the mixer aisle at the grocery store)
- 3/4 cup of tequila (Margaritaville Gold Tequilla is cheap but good)
- 1/2 cup of triple sec
1- For the simple syrup: Boil the water. Pour sugar into boiling water, stirring constantly until it dissolves. Set aside to cool.
2- Juice the limes until you have about 1/4 cup of lime juice
3- Combine simple syrup, fresh lime juice, Rose’s juice, tequila, and triple sec stirring to combine. (If it still tastes too sweet just add water to your desired taste)
Karen (a dear friend and blog follower) approves!! 🙂
Slice limes and oranges to make it pretty (not necessary for taste!!)
